Moya

moyaBuilt by William Crossfield in Arnside in 1910. At 43ft LOD (plus bowsprit) she is quite big, and has always been a yacht, with luxurious accommodation. She was initially based in Preston.

She had an engine fitted in 1924 and in 1927 was converted into a yawl. In 1929 she moved to Lancaster, then reconverted back to a cutter in 1948. In the early 50's her home became the Solent, and in 1975 she took part in the prestigious Fastnet race.

In 1988 she was sold in Italy, where she underwent a major restoration. Moya has been there ever since at her new homeport of Trieste, at the north end of the Adriatic.
