30th ANNUAL NOBBY RACE 2010

Details

It has been agreed that this year’s Annual Nobby Race will take place on Sunday the 11th July. High water is 11-27 with a predicted 8.8 meter tide.

Members will recall that every effort is being made to achieve high turnout at our 30th Race, for that reason we have undertaken to assist any member in their efforts to get to Liverpool. A rather nice card was received by your Secretary from Jennifer Snell who is determined to enter Hearts of Oak, however, she needs some help in getting the boat to Liverpool and I ask any experienced member to contact your Secretary if they are willing to go up to Cumbria and sail back with Hearts of Oak.

Your Committee have agreed to encourage members of the Old Gaffers Association to join us in order to increase the spectacle and enable two separate races to be run.

Turning now to the facilities at Liverpool Marina, members will recall the Marina have discounted rates available at the present time and initially Nobby owners were given an additional 10% discount. Your Secretary was pleased to confirm that your President has now moved Pilkington to the Liverpool Marina, Andy Williams has made arrangements to take a berth in the Marina for Cachalot and Bill Howard has also agreed to take a berth for Polly. In view of this additional support the discount to Nobby Owners has increased to 15%. Anyone else interested in moving their boat to Liverpool should initially contact Tom who will make enquiries for you and achieve the best possible price.
